Stitch your way to a better day!

The 30 cross-stitch designs in Gail Bussi's signature chalk art, hand-lettering style, will encourage mindful, relaxing stitching and are easy enough for beginners. The patterns are divided into sections to Inspire, Create, or Connect, and will give you positive thoughts for many occasions. Finished pieces are perfect for sharing your hopes and wishes for others, or to keep to remind yourself of your personal aspirations. As you stitch the meaningful sayings, let the words as well as the simple movements inspire you.

Ready to stitch your own favorite mantra? Use alphabets provided to design your own pieces. Finish your pieces as small pillows, hangings, framed wall art, book covers, or however you envision. Each project includes chart, finished photo, materials list, and full instructions.

Designer Bussi (Enchanted Herbal) combines lighthearted designs with inspirational quotes in this low-key cross-stitching guide. After running through a short list of easy-to-find equipment, she gets into the projects, with patterns divided into three sections. The first, “Inspire,” contains projects to help one find “peace, joy, and hope.” Highlights include the text-free “Little Peace Garden Mandala” and a heart-bedecked lamb with the quotation “Just Be You.” Next is “Create,” which promises to show readers “how powerful and necessary it is for human beings to be creative.” There are plenty of flowers and hearts in this section, as well as a wise owl. Last is “Connect,” which “celebrates and honors” human connections and offers a “Heart’s Blessing Gift Bag” and plenty of quote-filled wall hangings. A short section at the end shows crafters how to chart their own designs and alphabets. While Bussi’s buoyant tone can a bit much, her encouragement will hit just right for optimists: “This colorful little design reminds us to keep positive and see the blessings and color in every single day!” Crafters hoping to use cross-stitching as a balm for the stresses of everyday life should look no further.
