Chef Matheson (host, Viceland's It's Suppertime! and Dead Set on Life; author, Matty Matheson: A Cookbook) is known for his personality, and the recipes in this latest collection are brought to life by his humor and candor (e.g., he often refers to specified vegetable stocks as vegetable tea). The collection features meals of all types, including vegetables, sandwiches, and desserts while also offering sections on roasting or grilling. Recipes are written in a conversational style lightly tempered from what readers will find on Matheson's YouTube channel. Most recipes are attainable by the home cook with easy-to-access ingredients. Notably, the author shares his love of vegetables with recipes such as pickled hot peppers and kitchen sink salad. VERDICT Filled with beautiful photography that shows off nearly each and every dish and featuring Matheson's trademark vulgarity, this book will appeal to followers of celebrity chefs such as Guy Ferrari.--Dawn Lowe-Wincentsen, Oregon Inst. of Technology, Portland
